The sun and sea water are huge pools of resources, which the radiation energy and water content can be used for daily life. The water usage in Hong Kong is huge, and the expenses for the government to buy water is therefore in significant concern. The feasibility of using PVA cloth and solar vapor generation on desalination had been investigate in this project by simulating the evaporation process, which can be a low cost and clean way to obtain drinking water. This project shows the use of blackened PVA cloth in solar vapor generation, which the evaporation rate had been improved to 2.24 times of the natural evaporation rate of water. For salt water at salinity of 28%, which is a saturated solution of NaCl, the evaporation rate had been improved to 3.88 times of the natural evaporation rate under one sun. |
